Expos 2009 Prospectus
The Meron's Expos enjoyed remarkable
success as an expansion CVBL franchise in 2008. Be that as
it may, the season ended on a disappointing note, a quarterfinal
loss marring an otherwise-remarkable campaign that saw the Expos
take 3rd place in the league in their first regular season.
Disappointing, certainly; but ultimately, the early exit has
only strengthened the resolve of M/R as they head into their
second year of CVBL play.
The Expos place emphasis on 100% commitment
and a positive dugout attitude. With this in mind, the
2009 Expos appear ready to respond both to these demands, and those of a daunting CVBL schedule.
While the league's membership will consolidate into six teams in
2009, this is likely to improve the quality of play put forth by
each squad.
The Expos are by no means omitted from this
player enrichment. Meron's will take the field carrying
several players new to the Expos, but proven veterans on the CVBL stage. These familiar faces -
Cliff Conners,
Billy Davis,
Andy Gooch,
Justin Mahan, and
Mark Passino - instill
a wealth of CVBL experience and talent in a team already
acknowledged for its prodigious raw talent.
Toward this end, most of the core players
responsible for maintaining the Expos' excellence throughout
2008 will return for 2009. From
Mike Bergman to
Eric Marshall, the team's inaugural standouts will look to continue
their dominance at the plate and on the mound.
In spite of the abrupt end to last season,
the Expos stand poised to make another strong run through down
the CVBL slate. As long as the franchise's beliefs in
determination and enthusiasm manifest in the Expos' work ethic
between the lines, Meron's has a lot to look forward to in
2009.
