Expos Start Strong, Finish Stronger in
Second Straight Sweep |
Article Posted May 24, 2010
Another solid Sunday in all aspects of the
game - catalyzed by Tory Bouyea's hitting, Billy Davis'
pitching, and Grace Bergman's cheering - spurred the Expos to
their third and fourth consecutive wins as they took both ends
of a doubleheader versus the Fourth Ward A's.
Bouyea was a standout in his first appearance
as an Expo, going 5 for 6 and hitting the weekend's lone homerun
at a windswept South Acres Field. Davis, meanwhile,
pitched a rare complete doubleheader, going strong for 12
straight innings to earn both of his team's wins.
Next weekend's series promises to be a
barnburner: the Lyon Mountain Miners, sole claimants to an
unbeaten CVBL record by virtue of their drubbing of the
Plattsburgh Cardinals yesterday, will travel to Plattsburgh
looking to keep their winning streak intact. The Expos
have turned red-hot as their roster has filled out, however, and
they have plenty of incentive given their sweep at the hands of
the Miners in last year's championship season. If both
teams play to their potential, it could be one of the most
exciting CVBL doubleheaders of 2010.
